Obituary: "Slick" Jim Swift

"Slick" Jim Swift
† 6 October 1888

It is with great sadness I have to report the death of “Slick” Jim Swift. Always one with a potion or two up his sleeve for any kind of ailment you can think of. Slick was also a great cook, famous for his extraordinary Louisiana gumbo. Sadly, since our visit to the City of Lost Angels, his cooking has been a tad unpredictable, but when it was good, it was really good.

When we first met Slick and his wagon, we quickly realised what an asset he would be to the team. Always cheerful, he would never let earthly matters like personal greed get in the way of true altruism. An eccentric man, always looking for a great deal, and we’ll remember him for the way he was.

Thank you, Slick, but this is not good bye, but rather a hello. We will have to see how long you remain in control of your faculties, but once you lose them, I hope Heaven will receive you with open arms, and plenty of ailments for you to cure. Just make sure no one takes more than one potion at a time, eh?
