Can we blame Canada if there's a devildemon incursion?

Sooooo the current situation is that we're now working from home and are doing our two weekly games (currently Rifts and Godbound) over Discord. The current situation, and self-isolating for a couple of weeks due to cold symptoms, are not particularly conducive to good mental health - even for hardcore introverts like me - so I've had real problems concentrating recently. And my concentration isn't the greatest at the best of times. I'm trying to work on it, but it's difficult. We're staying home and we're staying safe, that's the main thing.

That being said, this post is a combination of three sessions, so ... yeah. One of the sessions was mainly battling with a dragon, so we didn't say a lot anyway because we were busy with dice rolls. But ... yeah. Yeah.

This looks like a job for fusion blocks!

Sooo ... Gorbash went and had a chat with one of his dragon friends, and now we're apparently supposed to go on some kind of suicide mission because attacking a flying fortress - the Death Star, basically - is somehow a reasonable thing to do???

You can't have Hugh Jackman as a familiar

We decided to go all SWAT team on the cultists. There was a mage abomination and a vindictive demon. Those things are no more, because we're pretty good fighters, actually.

Opening the portal is less epic and poetic than I imagined

Innuendo aside, we went to clean up the abandoned town of Angels. The cleanup was successful. We also found some Shifters who realised that they could open the portal without having to kill people. Soooo ... they opened the portal, avoided activating some very nasty runes, and we went through ...

Scenery was a little less epic than pictured, although we recognised it from visions, dreams and such. Now we just need to find the missing people and get them back through the portal without waking up Nxla ...

Happy new year!

Sorry for the lack of posts in December - we had our last session on the 9th, and then the Blogkeeper went on holiday - which wouldn't have impeeded preparing a seasonal JPEG or putting together some other kind of post, but the entire holiday was a blur of nursing a bad cold, so ho hum never mind.

While we're waiting for normality to resume on Tuesday (yay!), we'd like to welcome in the new year by some random Facebooking:

"Only 3 more days to the tactical moustache... and cake!!"

Rifts GM: "What are we doing on Tuesday by the way - is it me?"
Player: "Rifts according to the calendar"
Rifts GM: "I better prep a bit then - hehehe"

Player 1: "Unfortunately X has lost his tactical moustache"
Player 2: "O.O No tactical stache.... shocking!"
Player 3: "Lost?!"
Player 1: "X has coiffeured his moustache and beard, so no longer has his tactical moustache."
Player 2: "I have bulding a theory - X found a threat to the world and the only way to stop it was to deploy the tactical stache permanently - as a barrier against evilness, so he can't bring it with him anymore."
Player 1: "Lol"
Player 2: "I like my theory better"

"What could be so evil that it needed a tactical moustache to stop it?!"
"So, I was thinking along the lines of USA finally realising that Sweden has 3 more letters in their alphabet than the English one has. Under pressure from the senate, USA decided to accuse Sweden for mass-alphabetication and was mustering forces when X deployed his tactical stache to protect the homeland of his fellow role players. USA, trembling in fear of the stache at their borders, decided not to go for it at the moment, as they have no matching stache to counter it."
"Thinking about it most US superheroes are clean-shaven! Wolverine's sideburns are probably their best bet."
"Wolverine is canadian!"
"That explains it!"
"Also, I am sure that sideburns would only compliment a tactical stache, not counter it - so even Wolverine's sideburns would be of no use against X's tactical stache.."

"I'm guessing their best bet would be Hagrid - Y is more the expert on him, so she will have to say if he would assist USA in their evil deeds or not"
"It depends ... will there be a dragon in it for him?"
"As far as I know, USA do not deploy dragons, so I would say no."

We're starting up Rifts on Tuesday, if that wasn't clear enough already, so see you in the next week with new posts!

I guarantee at least ONE person in history has made love to a riverboat

As one of our players was missing, we decided to save the conclusion of the Changeling adventure for next week, seeing as how the character in question is rather pivotal to the story. Instead, we decided to get going with the next Deadlands adventure, which was due to start after we finished brainalysing the people who killed Tag all those years ago, and who may or may not have had something to do with Alysiana's amnesia. What we ended up with, aside from beef jerky, was a very bizarre session, to say the least. We alighted a train and took a riverboat over to the very religious City of Lost Angels. Slick seemed to get oddly excited about riverboats and then did his best to incur the wrath of the city's population by blaspheming his li'l heart out.

Meanwhile, Lucky Reynard was trying to get hold of dynamite, and had a spell backfire on him, which set him all aglow; Gunney decided to lay low (he knows about California all too well); and it was found that Mary's "old country" might not have been Ireland, but in fact ... Jamaica.

Like we said, bizarre.

Does bending the rules always result in this?

The Band (that's us) went to a casino to try and find clues as to the whereabouts of the Count's missing son. This meant Jack took a crash course in how to win at cards, Flora and Finn (aided by Jack, sort of) distracting the crowd by singing Grease medleys and Irish folk songs while Set broke into the "Staff Only" area, and Alyssiana distracting the big bad guy by taking him home to show her etchings, so to speak, even though she's normally a lesbian. Then we finished the session in style, by Set and Alyssiana's silver-munching ferret and later a Finn high on cocain and Valium ("I'm very concentrated but extremely not moving") staking out Nebuchadnessar Nessun Dorma a house with a peculiar name beginning with N.

This might get known as the "Sex, Drugs and Rock'n'Roll" session. For good reason.
